Richard began his forestry career at Craft Forestry in 2013 as a junior forest technician after completing his Bachelor of Natural Resource Science degree at Thompson Rivers University. While bush-work was enjoyable, he soon moved into the office where he sharpened his planning and analysis skills.

Richard loves building systems and teams, and supporting other forest professionals in the early stages of their careers. A big picture thinker, Richard is focused on where Craft Forestry is going, fuelled by the why and how we do our work. His practice focuses on site plans, appraisals, visual resource management, professional practice, and in developing detailed legal plans for forest stewardship.

After his experience articling an Allied Science Forester in Training, Richard developed a passion for the regulation and practice of professional forestry and is grateful for the opportunity to volunteer with Forest Professionals British Columbia’s Credentials Committee.

After finding his forestry legs working for others, John co-founded Atlas Information Management with Neil in the early 1990s, eager to take charge of his own career path.

Prior to starting his own company, John worked for a variety of licensees on the coast and in the Fraser Valley, developing a strong background in cutblock and road development, and timber cruising. Before gaining substantial practical and professional experience, John began his forestry education by first earning a Diploma in Forest Resource Management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of British Columbia.

John oversees and coordinates Craft’s numerous projects and ensures our clients are well-served. He has decades of involvement in professional forestry, managing tenure obligations of all sizes, but having developed a particular aptitude for small tenure management, as a woodlot holder himself.
